1. Choose a suitable storage location

Coffee is very sensitive to light, heat, humidity and oxygen, so it is important to choose a suitable place to store it. Ideally, it should be a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as a stove or radiator. A kitchen cupboard is an excellent choice.

2. Store in an airtight container

To prevent air from entering the coffee, which can contribute to oxidation, it must be stored in an airtight container. Ideally, this should be a container with a tight-fitting lid that prevents the ingress of oxygen, moisture and foreign odours. Glass or metal containers are recommended as they do not absorb odours and help to keep the coffee fresher for longer.

3. Avoid the fridge and freezer

It is often said that coffee should be kept in the fridge or even in the freezer, but this is not recommended. Low temperatures and humidity in the fridge can adversely affect the aroma and taste of the coffee. The freezer can cause condensation when the coffee is removed, which in turn affects the quality. It is better to choose a cool and dry place as mentioned above.

4. Buy as much as you can use in a month

To keep your coffee fresh, it is advisable to buy only enough to use within a month. Because ground coffee lose their freshness faster than beans, it is better to choose whole beans and to grind them only before use. This will ensure a more intense aroma and flavour.

5. Follow the expiry date

Finally, don't neglect the expiry date. Although coffee does not become dangerous even after the expiry date, its aroma and taste can deteriorate significantly. After the expiry date, coffee may become flat and without a distinctive aroma.
By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your coffee will always be fresh, aromatic and ready to give you a pleasant experience every time.
