Everything You Need: Ingredients and Equipment

Before you begin, gather all the ingredients and necessary kitchen tools. The quality of the coffee is especially important-it significantly affects the final result.

The main ingredient, of course, is espresso, which forms the basis of the recipe. For a rich and intense flavor, you can use high-quality espresso coffee, such as from arabikakafija.lv range-this makes the process particularly convenient. You'll need about 2–3 small cups of espresso.

Other ingredients:

  • 350 g sugar (about 380 g for brown sugar);
  • 4–6 medium-sized apples;
  • lemon zest;
  • 350–450 ml of water;
  • 1 packet of vanilla extract.

Required dishes:

  • stove or cooktop;
  • a wooden spoon or spatula;
  • sterilized glass jars.

Once everything is prepared, this recipe is easy to make, even without much cooking experience.
Step by Step: How to Make Coffee Jam

  1. First, make an espresso;
  2. Peel the apples, remove the cores, and cut them into pieces;
  3. Cook the apples over low heat with about one-third water until they turn into a puree;
  4. Add the remaining water, coffee, sugar, vanilla, and lemon zest;
  5. Cook over low heat until it reaches a creamy, jam-like consistency;
  6. To make the texture even smoother, blend the mixture with a hand blender;
  7. Pour the hot mixture into sterilized jars, seal them, and place them with the lids facing down;
  8. Once the jars have cooled, the coffee jam is ready to enjoy.

Storage

If the jars are sealed airtight, the jam can be stored for 6–12 months in a cool, dry place. Once opened, it is recommended to store it in the refrigerator and use it within 3–4 days.

The chocolate version: a particularly tempting option

If you're a chocolate lover, this version will be a real dessert in a jar.
Here, milk is used instead of water, and cocoa or chocolate (about 100 g) is used instead of apples. To thicken the mixture, add about 20 g of cornstarch as well.

Preparation:

  1. Make an espresso;
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, mix together the milk, sugar, coffee, and starch;
  3. Stir continuously (preferably with a whisk) to prevent lumps from forming;
  4. When the mixture starts to boil and thickens, it's ready;
  5. Pour into jars, seal them, and set them upside down until they cool.

The result: a creamy, spreadable treat with coffee and chocolate flavors.
